Abstract

The main factors influencing Pakistan's overall agricultural productivity between 1990 and 2020 are examined in this study. We examine the short- and long-term interactions between several economic and environmental factors affecting agricultural productivity using the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model. In contrast to factors like area under cultivation, employment, population expansion and urbanization, which have short-term negative effects but eventually become statistically significant, our data show that land usage and pesticide consumption have a positive impact on productivity. The research offers policy suggestions meant to increase Pakistan's agricultural sustainability and efficiency.
